　　汨罗市八景乡面积54.7平方公里，辖5个行政村，58个村民小组，4009人。全乡耕地不足2000亩，动植物资源丰富，生态系统保持完整。

　　回到八景乡已7年，杨红阁对这里的一草一木都十分熟悉。他说，他是农民的儿子，始终要回到土地。

　　这是一个被自然格外眷顾的村庄，坐拥8万亩山林，森林覆盖率达95%，古人称之“造化钟灵秀，八景小蓬莱”。如斯美景，却留不住村里的年轻人。

　　杨红阁说，在村里“发财很难，只能保证基本生存需要”，因此年轻人大多外出打工，挣钱养家、修房子。家里的老人、女人和孩子就守着这片山这片林。

　　7月的阳光下，进入这个小山村，仿佛陡然凉快起来。铺了水泥的小径一直通到树林，林中有湖，那是蓄水量近7000万立方米的兰家洞水库，舀一瓢水，清澈碧绿，可以直接喝。湖中有岛，岛上有土砖砌的两层旧屋，那是护林人的房。护林人一般很少出岛，房前房后种着蔬菜，透着跟林子里树木一样干净的绿。

　　陈汉林家原来住在水库边，后来在广州打工的儿子赚了钱，在半山修了两栋两层楼的新房，陈汉林才搬了家。老汉今年73岁，清瘦硬朗，皮肤透着庄稼人特有的黑。“收音机能听花鼓戏，电视能收40多个台。”陈汉林说，现在过的简直就是神仙日子。他只操心3件“大事”：种菜、喂猪和带孙。曾孙爱吃笋，他却从不挖山上的嫩笋，因为“笋子会长成竹子，所以不砍。”

　　和陈汉林一样，八景乡人把这片山这片林这片水当成了宝贝，守着护着。而山水回报他们的，就是不加雕饰的美，纯粹的美。

　　韩少功，这位独具慧眼的作家，把他的家安在了八景。小小半岛曲径通幽，门前两棵树，一棵结杨梅，一棵开桂花;一座葡萄藤架，这一季的葡萄刚刚结过，才谢掉森森的绿。小楼木窗木门，庭院种一小片橘树。岛三面环水，后院的篱笆里种着菜，阳光从浓密参天的树荫里泻下。“被氧气呛倒不负责，矿泉水冲厕所不收费，吃不到地沟油别找麻烦。”刚在碧水中畅泳归来的韩少功俏皮地说。可能就是因为这个，他在这一住就是10多年。

　　韩少功说，他大多数作品创作背景就是八景，小说散文中大多数人物原型，就是这里的老乡。

　　“乡村的美是一种母亲式的美，故乡之美、母亲之美不可替代，这种美有感情掺杂其中。”八景的美，在韩少功这里如此博大。而同样深沉的情感，也深埋在八景乡党委书记陈学礼心里。这个矮矮壮壮的中年人，带着留在村里的人，3年来植了8000亩树林，种了6000多株桂花、红叶石楠、香樟、罗汉松和玉兰。建起了专业的打捞队，花了30万元租船，定期对八景洞、兰家洞两座水库的漂浮物进行打捞。8万亩林地被划分为可采伐、限采伐和禁采伐3块，全面封山育林，大型采石场和矿山一律禁止。

　　大山的颜色是沉默的绿，八景乡人的世界却无比明亮。离开时，八景学校10岁的范鑫杰在采访本上这样写道：“你可知道，树木对人类有多么重要，它是万物之本，有了树木，我们才能高高兴兴地生活在美丽的地球上。”

The small wooden door, and a small orange tree garden. The island is surrounded by water on three sides, the sunshine diarrhea from the dense shade, the backyard fence a vegetable garden.
